I have used the impact Driver to remove rusted nuts off of trailer lights.  When installing equipment in vehicle the quick change feature on the impact makes for faster installs.  The impact driver is lightweight making it possible to use it all day.

The drill's two speeds make it easy to go from drilling a hole to screwing in a screw.  The drill has enough power to to screw in a 6 inch screw.  The chuck handles up to a 1/2 drill bit.

Greenworks has went far beyond normal Cordless tools.  With the introduction of the G-24 system they created endless possibilities.  These are just a few of the tools available on the G-24 System.

Greenworks

Sponsored Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned below for free in hopes that I would share it with my readers. As with any product, your opinion may differ from mine. I received the G-24 24v Cordless Combo Kit from Greenworks.  I immediately noticed the Drill and Impact Driver were lighter than my old cordless drill.  The combo kit came with the Greenworks drill and impact driver, two 24 volt Batteries and a charger.

The Drill has a 24 step clutch and a convenient bit holder. The drill has a two speed switch on top and a variable speed trigger.  There is a led light placed to illuminate the work.

The impact is extremely fast with a top speed of 3000 rpm and 2000 inches lbs of torque. The impact has 0-3600 bpm.  The impact also has a variable speed trigger and a led light like the drill.  Both came with a reversible belt clip.

On-board battery "fuel" indicator allows for on-demand reference of remaining power. G-24 24V Lithium-Ion Battery delivers fade-free power with no memory loss after charging.

I used the Greenworks G-24 24V Cordless 2-Speed Compact Drill to drill a pilot hole in the post to hang an eight foot gate.  The drill had amazing power and there was no hesitation making the job quick and easy.  The drill had a higher RPM than my old drill and more torque.
I needed an hose hanger in the wash area at the barn.  I used the drill to drill the holes and the impact to screw in the screws.  The Greenworks Drill had no problem drilling into the cement wall.  The Greenworks Impact driver made quick work of the screws.

I mounted a winch to help with lifting of the basket.  I again used the Greenworks Drill and G-24 24 Volt Impact Driver. The impact had so much torque I had to redo one hole due to the impact stripping out the screw.
Next was installing a motion activated light on the side of the barn.  the Greenworks drill was used with an hole saw and screwed in the junction box.
I used the Greenworks Drill and Hole Saw to cut several holes in the bottom of the drum, ice chest, and trash can to plant Potatoes.  I have been using the Greenworks for about two weeks now and still have not needed to recharge the batteries.

Greenworks has produced a front runner in the cordless power tools with the cordless drill and impact driver. Greenworks have put together a great warranty to go with the items.  They come with a four year warranty on the drill and impact and a two year warranty on the batteries.  There are several other items available from Greenworks to use with the G-24 batteries, including a circular saw and an air compressor. When you finish the list of items inside you can take the batteries and head outside. the G-24 system include pole saws, string trimmers and hedge trimmers.

In short, I highly recommend purchasing the G-24 24 volt combo kit

  • The Drill and Impact are light in weight but not power.
  • The Ergonomic handles make it easier to hold and use.
  • The led light light shines exactly where you need it.
  • The fade free batteries
  • The Fuel level on the batteries never leave you guessing.
  • The lasting power of the batteries
  • The batteries can be used on other tools.

Boiled Crawfish Recipe

Guido's Recipe

I started out helping a friend boil crawfish for a local sports bar and restaurant. Then before I know I was doing them by myself and selling 200lbs in less then 15 minutes. The sports bar owner had a pot that held 200lbs with trimmings . The pot I use now holds three sacks of crawfish.  I fill the pot approximately 3/4 full with water and start the burner.  I put in the season I purchase the Zatarain's brand crab boil powder. I put one 4lb container of season per sack of crawfish.  I also put in 1 quart of liquid Crab Boil.  I take a bag of lemons, a bag of onions, two boxes of salt, 6 cloves of garlic (for season).  I cut the lemons and onions in half and place them into the water. I break up the garlic with my hands.  I put in the boxes of salt.   I take a empty crawfish sack and place in 24 to 36 small red potatoes.  I tie up the sack and place it in the water.  The potatoes need to boil 10 to 15 minutes.      While waiting on the pot to come to a boil I start cleaning the crawfish.

The most important thing is make sure the crawfish are CLEAN.    I have used several items to wash and clean them.  I prefer and keep kiddie pools on hand to use.  I start by submerging them in water.  I let them soak for a few minutes while stirring them.  The water will be very dark and muddy. I get all the sticks and pieces of grass out of the water.

I use a dip net to transfer them to another pool and put water on them.  I continue the process until the water is completely clear.  I then purge the crawfish with salt.  I usually use 6 boxes of salt. I prefer Iodized salt but plain salt will work.  I let them soak for at least 10 minutes.  I place my whole cloves of garlic (for eating) into the boiling water. After the soak in salt I wash the crawfish by transferring them from pool to pool at least 8 more times putting fresh water on them each time.   Once the crawfish are completely clean I place them into the boiling water.

This is the time I put in my sack of whole mushrooms and hot dogs/sausage.  I bring the water back to boil for approximately 5-7 minutes.  I cut the fire off and place in the sack of frozen ears of corn.   The frozen corn helps cool off the water.  I then take the hose and spray the outside of the pot.  It cools off the pot and stops the cooking process.  The crawfish need to soak for 15 to 20 minutes. I start tasting the crawfish at 20 minutes to check the taste to see if they need to soak more or need to be removed.

4lb Zatarain's complete boil powder (per sack)
1 Quart Zatarain's Liquid Boil
12 cloves garlic
1 bag of lemons
1 bag yellow onions
8 boxes of Iodized salt
4 trays of Mushrooms (optional)
2 packs of franks (option)
18-36 ears of frozen corn

Milk Crates

Milk Crates are one of the most universal items to have next to your Toolbox. The uses are only limited by your imagination.

I grew up with my father always having a milk crate in the bed of the truck.  I never really gave it much thought until as an adult I went by to help change a fuel filter on his diesel truck.  We raised the hood and he grabbed the milk crate out of the back of the truck.   I could reach the filter easily without the crate but my father is vertically challenged.  When I asked him about the crate he told me years ago he used a 5 gallon bucket, but the bucket would turn over easily.  I noticed the crate was steady and supported his weight with no problem.  I purchased a 3/4 ton 4-wheel drive truck and found myself having to use a crate to stand on to reach different items.  I realized then as I look around in his shop and yard he had several of them.  He had two of the with boards attached and using them has stools. In the shop he had them turned on the side and stacked using as shelves. He had one being used as a tool box.   He had one at the base of his camper stairs to make the it easier to step onto the first step. I now have several of them in my shop to sit on when working on vehicles.

There several different sizes and colors.  There are several websites selling the crates, some are as low as $5.00. I have found some that will place your name on the side.   They are a must have addition to any Toolbox.

As a Law Enforcement Officer I am always out in the worst weather from the extreme heat to the extreme cold.   Louisiana usually has very mild winters but this year has been one of the coldest I can ever remember. I have cold weather clothes that keep me warm but there was always my feet.  I would wear two pair of socks to keep my feet warm, after a few minutes my feet would start sweating and they would get cold.  Once my feet would get cold I stayed cold all day no matter how much clothing was worn.  I have tried several products to keep my feet warm and dry.

My Wife told me she had gotten a pair of Heat Holders

When she told me her feet stayed warm all day and did not sweat it struck my curiosity.   I had to know why and how.  I found this video to explain everything.

After I received my pair of Heat Holders I was amazed at how soft and warm they were.  I wore them at work and my feet stayed warm and dry for a full 12 hour shift.  There is finally a product designed for people who work and play outdoors.  Heat Holders have turned the tables on winter.
There are several other products available and just a few are Pictured below.

I will be ordering some of the stripped ones to wear for dress occasions.  Heat Holders will make a great addition to any toolbox.

Petco

Petco Amazing Aquatic Event Feb. 22nd
from
10am-2pm
Bring your kids ages 6-12 to
this fun event!!!

Betta fish tend to be a bit misunderstood because they are known to be a “fighting” fish.
In reality, these Southeast Asia natives are low-maintenance pets that show off their individual personalities through their vibrant colors and friendly gestures.
On February 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., children 6- to 12-years-old are invited to Petco’s Amazing Aquatics Event to learn about the amazing lives of Betta fish and how they make great first pets for kids.
Below are some insightful myth busters about fish that prove Bettas make great pets for kids and adults, alike.
•    Myth #1: Fish need a lot of room to swim. Bettas may actually do better in a smaller bowl because they don’t like a current. They like stagnant water because their natural habitat is living in puddles in rice paddies.
•    Myth #2: Fish cannot breath oxygen. This is true for most fish, but Bettas have elaborate gills that allow them to breath oxygen, which is why they can be kept in smaller habitats. They can gulp air rather use their gills because they are labyrinth fish, which also helps them survive in dirty puddles.
•    Myth #3: Some fish cannot be kept with other fish in the same tank. Keeping more than one Betta in a fish tank should be avoided, but Bettas can actually be in the same tank with nonaggressive fish such as swords, platies, mollies and guppies.
•    Myth #4: Fish cannot be trained. Betta’s are smarter than you think! With proper training, Bettas can be trained to jump out of the water, flare on command, and even swim through a hoop.
•    Myth #5: Fish floating on their side is never a good thing. Not for Bettas! Bettas will often float on their side and lay motionless at times because they are native to puddles. In fact, they can even survive without water for short periods of time.
•    Myth #6: Fish require frequent tank cleanings. Some fish need fresh water more often than others. Bettas only need about 25-50 percent of new, fresh water added to its tank every week or so.
•    Myth #7: Goldfish are the perfect “starter” fish. Actually, Bettas are known to be the best kinds of fish to start with. Many people see goldfish as the perfect starter fish, but a recent study shows that 85 percent of the people in the aquarium trade got started with a Betta.
Myth #8: Fish cannot show emotion. Betta fish have plenty of emotion to show off! In fact, they will make bubble nests on top of their water to show that they are happy. Some Betta fish owners even say they are greeted by their Betta fish as they are approach its fish bowl.

EZwipers' Anco wipers review and giveaway

The windshield wipers on My truck were getting worn and starting to streak.  Louisiana is heading into the rainy season or at least it seems that way. The wifey had just told me about Ezwipers.com a website to buy wipers online.  I was kind of hesitant, but I went to the website.  I was completely amazed at the ease of using the website.  I was able to find the size wipers I needed, and pick a pair in less than 2 minutes.  I know as a man I hate to read the directions for anything but I checked out the How to install section.  They had the pictures of exactly how to remove and install the wipers.  Finally a website for me, no nonsense, just quick in and quick out the way I like to shop.  In just a few days I received a pair for wipers for my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd.  I was able to install the new wipers in just minutes.

I am able to see the road and no more complaining from wifey about she can not see from the passenger side of the vehicle.

The Anco series 31 wipers are as close to the original windshield wipers as the factory ones installed on my truck.  The windshield wipers kept up with sleet from the latest winter storm.  Ezwipers is now giving away a pair of Anco 31 wipers for your vehicle.  Enter below for a set Anco Series 31 windshield wipers.  The contest is for one set (1 driver and 1 passenger).

RavPower Luster

Sponsored Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned below for free in hopes that I would share it with my readers.    The wife and I take trips and I find our phones are always needing to be charged.  It seems like we always forget to bring the wall charger.

I received RAVPower Luster 6000mAh external battery pack I thought this would be great for trips.

I charged the Luster and off we went.  I didn't charge my phone the night before. I plugged the Phone into the Luster.  When we got to our first stop I checked the phone and it was fully charged and the Luster had turned off to conserve power.   Later that night I plugged in the wife's electronic cigarette.  It charged the e-cigarette faster than plugging into the laptop or wall.   I plugged my phone into the Luster pack to charge for the night and again the phone was fully charged. The next morning I plugged in the wife's phone, it charged her phone also.  I used the Luster for several days without charging it and it is still had a 3/4 charge.  I would have never thought it would have had that much power.  The RavPower Luster pack has led lights to indicate  amount of power. It only weights a little over 5 ounces. The Luster has a bright LED flashlight.  The flash light is bright enough to get through emergency situations.

The Luster comes with a Charging cable, instructions and comes with a carrying bag.

The Luster comes in four colors black, blue, gold , and pink.  I am thinking of purchasing the wife a pink one to use on her pink polka dot scooter.

If you use your electronics on the road and and just never have enough power to last through the day the RavPower Luster is a must have for your toolbox. With Hurricane season coming soon the Luster should be in your emergency preparedness bag.  It would also make a nice addition to the candy and flowers given for Valentines Day.

It seems like every thing electronic now comes with a cord to plug into a USB and a wall adapter.  There is never an empty plug on my power strip.  RavPower has an 4 port USB wall charger.

I can now unplug my phone, tablet,  RavPower Luster, and rechargeable speakers from the power strip.  With the 4 port charger I can just plug in one cord into the power strip.

Thanks to Adventures of Piglet Scooter for the Referral.
